During the several years of owning my current laptop, I have sometimes wondered why the manufacturer bothered to put speakers in it when they are inaudible even when the volume is turned all the way up. But I figured I should just be thankful that they remembered to put in a headphone jack.

The Technical Staff just revealed that there is another secret adjustment, like Balance or some such, that actually raises the volume to an audible level if you turn it up.

Better late than never, I guess.
